All this Miley Cyrus Business...

It got me thinking. I'm the kind of person that thinks anything is art. When people are offended by art, or the idea something can be art, it's the message that they are really offended by. Most people are outraged about this Vanity Fair pic of Miley Cyrus half nude and how it corrupts her innocence. They look at that people and say, "that's not art, that's turning a young 15 year old girl into a symbol of sexuality and provokity."

That's not necessarily what I see. Now, I know Cyrus has her career to think about, and the whole problem isn't that the photographer didn't make a mistake taking the picturing, the problem is how people reacted to the photo. The problem is how people's mentally is before even looking at the photo. Egads! Half naked 15 year old! This is a disgrace! Some have even gone so far as to call it raunchy.

Sweet hesus people! I think the photo is very artistic. I think it shows a more innocence Cyrus, almost vulnerable. It may just be because I'm a girl who's open minded about what constitutes as art, but that's exactly what I think that photo is. A very good piece of art.The mood is stormy, yet Cyrus isn't fearful, but her smile reminds me of the Mona Lisa, mysterious and mystical. People's idea about nudity is that they instantly think sex. The media about this one semi-nude photo is completely outrageous.

Now, people like biss479 seem to think that the photo is basically a publicity stunt that is subjecting Cyrus to some kind of corruption. For one thing, this picture isn't going to do anything major to Cyrus's career, even without all the profuse apologies. She'll keep trucking along. And that in itself is probably a bigger problem. How accepting the public is torwards these 'mistakes' (not only accepting but also damning, freaking oxymoron is what it is). I agree that our society is becoming more 'sexy' or so to speak. Our fast paced world is becoming more mature at younger ages. Sex sells, yadda yadda. That's the problem, and there is no solution. At least, not one that can keep up with the change. Conservatives can shout all they want, but you can't stop it. You can only evolve and adapt to change, and accept it.

Beautiful piece of art.

i agree with your description. IT does look very nice. It's just crazy that this is such a big deal cus if it were any other 15 year old girl on myspace of facebook i dont think anyone would have cared a bit. even if it were as nice as this. The mdeia can do terrible things, but it's nice tosee when people can just keep going on and ignoring public views, because in that kind of career as hers the people that critique her are the ones that are offering the jobs.
